A covert order that hunts mages corrupted by demonic influence. Most people don’t know they exist.

The Viz-Jaq’taar were created by the Vizjerei in the aftermath of the Mage Clan Wars as a form of institutional penance: an order whose purpose is to find and eliminate mages who have been touched by demonic corruption. Their code is drawn from Lam Esen’s Tome.

Their defining feature is that they draw power from within — martial discipline, engineered weapons, trained mind — rather than from arcane sources. This means they cannot be corrupted through magical contact the way a mage can. It makes them uniquely suited to hunting the thing they hunt.

They are deeply secretive. Most people, including most mages, have no confirmed knowledge of the order’s existence. The rumor of them is itself a deterrent.

A Viz-Jaq’taar character is on a mission. They do not explain the order, do not advertise what they are, and are accustomed to working without acknowledgment.

Guiding principles: Corruption must be found and removed, regardless of who carries it. Power drawn from within cannot be turned against you. The mission justifies the secrecy.

Best fit: Rogue, Monk, Fighter (Battle Master).
