The Barbarian clans descend from Bul-Kathos, one of the ancient nephalem, who charged them with a guardianship most of the world knows nothing about. To outsiders, they appear to be fierce isolationists who defend the northern highlands and Mount Arreat with disproportionate ferocity. The clans do not explain themselves.

Their culture is oral, ancestral, and clan-governed. Academic magic is foreign to them; their power is physical, drawn from ancestral connection and personal will. They do not study the arcane; they embody something older.

A Barbarian character abroad is a significant thing within their culture; the pull that sent them south must have been serious. They carry their duty with them even away from the mountain.

Guiding principles: Ancestral obligation above personal desire. Strength as a form of reverence. Guardianship of something the world doesn’t understand and isn’t owed an explanation for.
