The dominant religion of the western world, built on the teachings of the prophet Akarat.

The Zakarum faith spread across the western kingdoms on the strength of a genuine moral vision: the Light as a force of order, justice, and protection against the darkness of the world. Its hierarchy runs from the Que-Hegan (supreme authority) down through the High Council of Archbishops, Grand Inquisitors, and Zealots. Its militant arm — the Paladins, formally the Protectors of the Word — proved better at spreading the faith than the priests they were created to guard.

The Church is the dominant institution in Khanduras. King Leoric converted Tristram to the faith. Its presence is architectural, political, and cultural.

Something is wrong with it. Paladins who have traveled east return troubled or do not return at all. The High Council has grown strange and secretive. A character shaped by genuine Zakarum faith — not politics, not institution, but the actual teachings of Akarat — may find themselves at odds with what the Church has become.

Guiding principles: The Light as a shield against evil. Order, justice, and protection of the innocent. Faith as a discipline, not merely a belief.

Best fit: Paladin, Cleric (Light or War), Fighter (Battle Master).
